They will always have loyal followers no matter what they do. People have spent their entire lives in this religion. To "wake" up 50 to 60 years in is very hard. I think back to this one woman who was born in as a JW, and is now 48. Her elder husband she was married to for 30 years died of cancer last year. He refused blood transfusion and told her to stay faithful to the end. Think she will stop believing for any reason? Her story is not unique. Too many have their ENTIRE life invested, and refuse to wake up. To go from hoping and believing you will see your dead loves ones, to now accepting the fact that it may never happen, and most your life is over with, is impossible for most to accept. -

Why are people burning their city to the ground in Baltimore? How doe Looting and Mob Violence Help?
by PokerPlayerPhil init's hard enough for businesses to enter these areas the government once had to offer up tax breaks to service them.
in watts, california it took decades for city residents to get a grocery store after the thugs burned their businesses to the ground.
you can see the insanity taking place, when you allow mobs and fools to burn building down nothing good comes from it.

Online court records list the race of three of the officers charged in the Freddie Gray case as black and list the three others in the broad category of "white, Caucasian, Asiatic Indian, Arab" without specifying.
The above I was not aware of. So basically 3 black cops, 2 other minority cops, and 1 white cop.

paulmolark, Thanks for your personal story. Perhaps been best to share that at the beginning of the conversation.
It will be interesting to see how the jury selection process will be handled. These six police officers whether innocent or guilty will be punished. One way around double jeopardy is going after them in federal court for civil rights violation.

Many years ago in college I had Philosophy teacher give this narrative that upset the black students in the class.
He stated as a white man he walked down a street and was mugged by a black man. Then a few months later it happened again. Over a course of a few years this incident happened another nine times but with even more violence involved. The he concluded, would it not be reasonable and valid that this person have a negative opinion about black males. His point is that life experience can have a heavy influence on your perception, regardless of facts.
It is quite possible that Paulmolark has experienced in his lifetime events that shape his world view. To the point where it brings forth anger and frustration. These core value issues: race, guns, abortion,... I never see or rarely see anyone concede on a single point or argument. It is almost a useless exercise.

Family gathering before disfellowshiping
by Mattieu inif you were/are in the sydenham (melbourne/victoria) congo you may be very familiar with this a few years back.
a prominent elder who likes the sound of his own voice (hint, his initials are william saad) yes of quite a well connected family, was on a judicial committee who was disfellowshiping one of his own male relatives for repeated marijuana usage.. this story by the way shows how corrupt the whole system is.
as williams family (elders and c/o) had covered up the previous few sorrid outcomes of his drug usage, they couldn't contain the last public viewing of his drug dependency, witnessed by many witnesses ironically... so they held a jc to disfellowship him.

I've seen a mixture of Elders that were decent and bad. When a powerful family moves into a congregation is a game changer. Years before I left we had three families move into our congregation. The grandfather and his two sons that both had families. The grandfather and his oldest son was made Elders. The other son was a ministerial servant. The daughters of these two sons were sleeping around but never got in trouble, until years later. -

Village Idiot, That is a good point. It is not per capita. They make up 14%+ of all gun murders in 2011, and have more than 12% of America's population. -

I was only touching on one topic where blacks and white statistically are using an illegal drug equally or close to equally. In this case marijuana. However, the arrest for the offense is disproportionate. -

Wouldn't let me post the arrest report, but basically blacks are arrested twice as much for pot possession

Sorry Simon. But I really don't think you understand the social issues in America. I don't see how guns is the root cause for the riots going on or the issues between the Black community and the police. You didn't even make an attempt to justify that statement.
I'm for strict gun laws, but I know that will have no impact on crime in America. Guns are in the 100's of millions in this country. You literally would have to ban guns and gather them all. There are 89 guns for every 100 American. This will never happen since it is now part of our Constitution with the 2nd Amendment. It would have to be appeal, and will not happen any time soon. The best is with strict gun laws, and that as I stated has no impact in America. According to the 2011 FBI Uniform Crime report, Californian with the strictest gun laws in America based on the Brady scoring system , had the highest amount of gun murders in 2011.
Though the rest of your argument/comments I see validity in. I think you are way off on racism not being a fundamental issue, and really don't think you have an understand of the dynamics of it pertaining to America. To just touch on you Marijuana/Drug comment. If needed I can provide you source, but Whites use Pot just as much if not more than Blacks in America. However, look at the arrest report below. Can a correlation be made between race and arrests? Racism, poverty, guns, drugs, education, ect... are all valid issues to this problem.
